this is an example of how a 944 can pass a 25% higher hp car at CGB and how making errors in 14 can really hurt you. 7:25-11:20 start of the example 12:06 paying for error vimeo.com/10093959

Chris, the reason for me not running is really about race budget. Clint you just made Terry's argument with that video. The reason Gary had problems in 14 was due to fuel pickup. ...and i made mine. doesn't matter what problem sh!t happens on track and being in the race and close enough to seize an opportunity is key. how many chances did gary have for overtaking? i made an error in 4 and did he cleanly overtake me? so if he ran a perfect race would he have beat me? did i breakout? Yeah I know shit happens... I wasn't in that race because a rock went through my radiator in the Heat race when I was following Gary through 1 and he put two wheels off. I only saw the one chance to pass caused by you going deep in 4. Yes he clearly overtook you in 4... is this a surprise? It looks pretty obvious that he was faster when not being right behind you... ummm obviously somewhere... www.mylaps.com/results/showlaps.jsp?id=1417117&perclass=0&pos=3&compare=2If you BOTH run a perfect race no he would not have beat you. ummm what does breaking out have to do with anything? Here is the link to the results from that race... 1-4 all higher hpcars that we were talking about... 2 of them did break out. www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1417117

Man, sorry I missed this one, but work related travel got in the way.
Reading through the thread I saw T's power to weight numbers for 944's and his estimates for the Sentra and CRX. Just to be clear Rebstock's CRX really has to be considered as a one off with his motor swap and lightweight HF chassis. It would not be legal in any SCCA class that CRX's typically compete in, but I guess there's a NASA class for it somewhere since they let you use dyno #'s and power to weight.
I know what hp Rebstock's car makes (he doesn't like to talk about it so I won't quote the number) but it is definitely not as much as Clint's Sentra. His CRX weighs 200 lbs+ less than mine, which has a minimum weight of 2250# with driver for SCCA's ITA class and I'm probably down at least 20hp to him. Darren Darby just purchased a CRX that what is supposed to be a 10/10ths build ITA car so it will be interesting to see how its performance compares to my car and Gary's (and others).
Another point that I think needs to be considered in the comparison between the 944/CRX/Sentra is gearing and FD ratio. It can make a big difference in performance.
I hope to be out there for the December race. See you guys soon.

glad we had some fun in this thread, got a few folks back to the boards, and hope nothing negative is taken from it. i am a humble person and barely take anything serious unless you are talking my children's safety.
last post on this topic - i have seen eon\t\lane point post after post, and i am not defending the guys that have broken out time after time, but i don't mind them racing beceause there are rules on them breaking out in place. more cars = more action = better experience
i do not like seeing eon break his car, which i know he and t work hard to keep going,on a move that could have gone either way.
throughout this discussion i used the experience and some video i have racing lane, gary, and scott etc to prove that my car is beatable just like any of the other top bracket cars. i do not blow pass lane in any area of the track and you guys have the same type car. not sure how much different the cars are? because of my experiences on our track i don't see how my car is brought up like some red-headed breakout machine. i respect the strengths of your cars and do not view them as unfair advantages in our series. they are very fast in a bunch of areas. i have been beaten by henry, julius, lane, scott, paul, denis, gary rebstock and i have gotten the best of some of them.
i know tracks are unique...world challenge racing is a great display of volvo beating vipers and next month at a different track viper beat the volvo.
regardless of all that has been talked about i have no hard feelings...it's a good place for everyone to see the different views.
before i go i do want to know where at the cbr track is there a fair\safe place to pass a 944 other than the straight?
Europe huh.....? How was your meeting with the TSA agents....? ;D T
Suprisingly uneventful. didn't even draw enough suspicion to warrant a pat down. It was frustrating to be so close to so much cool racing related stuff and not be able to check any of it out. One of the plants we visited was in the next town over from M. Schumacher's hometown with the family owned karting tracks and we were about an hour away from the Ring.
