Good thing i hadn't rained in a while. You would have not been able to stop where you did. Good evasion though.

I know where he stopped. I saw him as I went by 5 in last place. If it was wet he could have made it to and through the woods(without mudders)

Just for the record, there was no official complaint made in the case of this incident. People kept bugging Eon to see the video, so now that it's public domain...., well, In hindsight, this was just the heat race and I had just finished telling Dennis Paul, who was watching the race from T14 stands with me, that Eon should just back off and take his front row chances in the feature. If you read through the NASA rules for 25.4 Rules For Overtaking 25.4.1 Passing General "The act of passing is initiated when the trailing car’s (Car A) front bumper overlaps with the lead car’s (Car B) rear bumper." Pretty sure from this still capture, that bumpers are at least overlapped, and personally, I I were in Eon's position, looking out the driver window at the point of the still, I would have had a reasonable expectation that I would have had enough room to go side by side through T2 & 3. Just to reiterate, this was already discussed and handled AT THE TRACK personally between both parties involved. There was NO CONTACT. T

looks like eon was trying to pull the mike hamza move...sort of hard to adjust mid turn-in to make room...everyone knows that after the bump going into 2 your car doesn't settle until exiting 3...if i were in gary's car, assuming he saw eon, i would have had to give up that corner so not to risk contact. however gary had won the drag race getting to #2 corner, so better option would have been to follow him close into 2-3 and make a clean pass 4-6. the 944's are always stronger in those areas, so you had a good chance to make that happen. it's hard to run two cars side by side through 2-3...ok the miata guys can. we all know gary is a fair guy to race with so i wouldn't gloat. my 2 cents

And you already know what happens down the straight if you watched the video. Btw what exactly is the Mike Hamza move? Are you talking about in this video?

People kept PM'ing, emailing and calling to see the video, so, here it is....the still cropped from the video is an unmolested frame from the parent video, nothing sinister, it is what it is. If you had watched the whole video, you'd see that Eon could have forced down the inside previously at T5 and also at T10, so I don't think the third move at T2 was that unreasonable or aggressive. How many opportunities do you just let slide by Clint before you finally take a shot...? Passes are made at that same spot all the time, I, personally have been party to passing and being passed there at least 10 occasions. Last thing, T4, yes, advantage 944 but Gary is definitely already thinking defensive taking away the inside of T4 unless a FWD car makes better time through there on what would be the wrong racing line for a 944...? T5 and 6, hands down, advantage FWD. By letter of the rule, NASA and PCA, a legitimate pass was "initiated" (front bumper overlaps rear bumper) and goes further in - " A driver who does not watch his/her mirrors or who appears to be blocking another car seeking a pass may be black-flagged and/or penalized." How is a "passer" supposed to determine whether the "passee" "sees him/her or not...., especially when the lead car doesn't even have mirrors....? It's pretty clear, to me at least, that if the car width of track that is available in the still shot was available through the corner, a pass would have been completed without incident. When a car is that much faster than you i.e. Carver vs. Carter later in the day at the same spot on track, you should be that much more aware through your mirrors. My $.02 T

i have watched hamza try to get a noise in going into 2 on other guys and he tried it on me 2-3 times in one race 2 yrs ago. both mike and yourself are very fast from 1-4 so i don't mind the pressure and i anticipate moves being made through those areas. i have passed lane and gary going into 8-9 on occasions on the inside but i have always beat them to the corner so they have a good view of me.

BTW - just to be fair, opening line of same said NASA interpretation states - "The responsibility for the decision to pass another car, and to do it safely, rests with the overtaking driver."
And to put it all in context, here's the entire unbroken passing statement -
25.4 Rules For Overtaking 25.4.1 Passing General The responsibility for the decision to pass another car, and to do it safely, rests with the overtaking driver. The overtaken driver should be aware that he/she is being passed and must not impede the pass by blocking. A driver who does not watch his/her mirrors or who appears to be blocking another car seeking a pass may be black-flagged and/or penalized. The act of passing is initiated when the trailing car’s (Car A) front bumper overlaps with the lead car’s (Car B) rear bumper. The act of passing is complete when Car A’s rear bumper is ahead of Car B’s front bumper. “NO PASSING” means a pass cannot even be initiated. Any overlap in a NO PASSING area is considered illegal.
Again, just commenting on the video that so many people asked to see, no charge of fault was made at the track officially and the matter is settled and closed between the two drivers.

There's definitely going to be performance disparity between so many makes/models of cars at different points around any track, especially in a series where the car/driver are paired as part of the factor. We don't have the power to follow a car through T5&6 and "beat them to T8" as you described re. passing Lane and Gary. In a power to weight scenario, the 2.5L 8V 944 is at a severe disadvantage to pretty much anything that races in bracket. Mike, Henry and Julius have +60-70 more bhp that an NA 944 but they also weigh 3000lbs. + by PCA spec. Our series is more of a "run what you brung" format, but in all honesty, if it were based on hp/weight, cars like yours and Rebstock's should not even be in the same zip code as a 944. Y'all have more power AND less weight.... T

Could you imagine if Eon had the hp of Hamza's car? None of us would stand a chance on top of the podium! Great driving Eon.
