Darby, there are RULES against YOUR team going fast. Read the fine print. ALL Carver's Drivers are prohibited from going fast. It has something to do with Alternators flying off or otherwise endangering the track, other cars, drivers of YOUR car, and other safety considerations. Shame, too. Your team is the only one so sanctioned.... Poor babies. Oh well, remember the tortoise and the hare. Slow gets'r done-at least for YOUR team....

Few of you know me, but the ones that do know I was just trying to spark some conversation. I know my status as a rookie, but I also know my coach will steer me right . No harm, no foul....as a matter of fact, I like a little smack talk myself but...., I did my share last year and was lucky enough to survive Murphy's wrath so I'm keeping a low profile this round. I think me and Carver went about tit for tat and never really dared to temp fate TOO much, just low level jabbing....maybe the karma police thought he went just a little over the line. You need all the planets to align to survive a thing like this. It's gonna be hella hot and most of these cars aren't LeMons cars that run one event with half of the time wrenching on them and then tucked away for 6 months to a year.....most of the entries are series race cars that have already been beat to death month in, month out. Good luck, T T, you're going to get along with Darren just fine. He's done tons of Autox, which we all know is like a competitive DE, so you must respect his skillz. Does that 944 have an ashtray?

Uh....ok, Even non-solo green DE groups allow passing, incrementally, more spots on track to pass as you move up and black allows passing anywhere on the circuit. so yeah...I can see how autox with one car on course at a time with the only material risk being a cone is practically the same thing... A DE student that comes up through the ranks, which by the way, teaches you to watch your mirrors, track positioning etiquette, heel/toe throttle/brake control, recognition of flag stations, meaning and purpose of flags, etc., etc. ,etc., will be at a higher level of skill and awareness than a lifetime participant of autox, hands down. Hey T, be sure to bring your running shoes to get the fireworks going.
The hippo 280Z car ran the LeMons 24 hour last year and was still running strong at the end. We have one less driver this year and a great strategy to keep the car on the track doing laps.
We finished 14th out of 50 cars in the 24 hour LeMons race with no overheating, 15 MPG and only one tire change.
We may not win but if you want to beat us you better be running at the end!
How about if we win you light the fireworks, and if we beat your team you get to kiss the hippo?

I'm a country boy though Ben, shoes not required..... ;D Hey, if y'all were to come off with the win, I'll be the first in line to congratulate y'all. And yeah, of course, I'll kiss the hippo if team Pet Hospital beats Younger/Older Than Dirt but make sure Fred brings a standby tetanus antidote dose in the bag.....that hippo is looking kinda bacterial last I saw it... ;D T

Family looking to come to the 400 but using heat as an excuse not too? We have a solution. This past weekend during the summer series race 2, the Circuit tested the new scoring screen in the drivers lounge. Yes that right, I said scoring screen in the drivers lounge. While sitting in the air conditioned comfort of the lounge, family, friends and competitors alike can sit on the sofas and watch the scoring of the event live from the big screen projector. Also, the scoring sheets will be posted hourly from the lounge. We want to thank Dave and Scott Baker along with Mark from Johnstone Racing for the newest addition to our amenities. The system will be available for all events that are scored at the Circuit Road Course and is the first piece of the puzzle to eventually having wireless timing and scoring visibility. paddock wide.

Last Minute info for the few and proud driving the 400. Please remember that the PA system at the track broadcasts on 91.9 fm and is a great way to have a "speaker" in your pit stall. As of now we have over 40 drivers, ten cars so the prize money chart will be as follows: First Place $600 Second Place $300 Third $200 Random Draw $200 Please remember to read all of the posts concerning the event with regards to fueling, pitting, paddock speed and direction and safety. Paddock Stewards call is final. Look forward to having a great time and even better racing.

Rough race...., those 6+ just as soon have been 24 for us. Practice and qualy according to plan, drivers new to the car but not 944s got a chance to check positioning, handling, etc with each 15 minutes practice. We popped on the new tires we were going to run the entire event on, and Eon did the 3 laps qualy, warmup, hot and cool down lap putting us 5th for the rolling start line up. We lost two spots in the first 5 laps, one to Rebstock in Carver's #76 and to LaStrappes in Cannon's #007 but when the rain started, Rebstock spun twice around T14 and Cannon's car came in for wets. Our first driver, Henry Carter did a very good job staying out and under control on race tires by keeping the car on track and surviving his entire 75 minute stint on non-treaded tires. Swapped for NT01s at the first stop, treated the inside of the windshield for visibility and sent off our second driver, Mike Hamza....quick and consistent, we were still in the game even with a slight brake light hiccup that we fixed in 3-4 minutes while Mike stayed in the car. As Mike was nearing the end of his stint, watching from the T14 stands, I could see the exhaust pipe starting to hang and getting worse by the lap, T5 corner station reporting dragging at Mike's last two laps. Fueled the car then pulled it under cover for the driver change to 'Teddy The Great' Busick while his mechanic and I crawled under the car and made a fix on the broken exhaust hanger....all in all, still in good shape as the fix went ok, only 1-2 minutes longer than it took to get Teddy buckled and ready. Rain was relentless but Teddy battled on well, running 2 seconds per lap faster than the #0 944T that was on a very long stint strategy......until...., engine electrical problem raised up and bit us. Teddy's stint almost complete, we were losing 5 laps per clip, coming and going from the garage, trying spare parts to no avail. Finally called it quits at 3/5ths distance. Loaded up our stuff and hung around long enough to watch the final battles and the fight between McMullan's #101 and Max in the #007 944. .900 gap for the last 15 laps with the position changing as the Nissan conserved a low fuel level and then got back past to nip the 944 to the line.....the driver's lounge lap display was very beneficial to watch this unfold and was grand central station for the last 20 laps. Carver's car/team ran steady and smooth after the first stint spins and was running 3rd near the end when a major mechanical forced Carver to park the car in the waning laps. Stayed around long enough to watch the survivor's parade leave the circuit, kiss the hippo (bet with Ben) and hear that Teddy won the pot for predicting the time that the race would end at 222 laps. His clock time prediction, picked because of our entry....? 9:44 pm. Irony at it's finest.... Congrats to the winner, Petit's Beemer, the second place Donovan 888 car team Zorro's third place #25 and props to all the finishers. T

I thank Fred McMullen for allowing me a spot on his intrepid team for car #101. Ben and he were great coaches and between Dave and me, we rounded out the team of four (not to be confused with the Team of Six), both Dave and I being rookie 400 milers. The olde 280Z ran great, but for the electrical problems with the brake lights, which cost us 10-12 laps (black flag and second pit stop for repairs). Ben set the pace and stayed out a long time, followed by me for around 70 minutes, then Fred who ran a long time in a rain storm, and finally Dave, who ran in the dark the whole time, partly in the rain and partly in the semi-dry conditions of the late race, who passed the 007 to take 6th place. He was running on fumes when the checkered flag fell, but that just made him faster, running some really good times at the end. We were all impressed how the olde Lemons car ran so strongly, never overheating, and almost Amazed at how the clutch, brakes and drive train gave everything we asked. Great olde car, Fred. Thanks for letting me on the team. This was a FUN event!
