After speed reading for 5 minutes getting ready to go race lemons I'll just put in my 2 cents; I just want to go fast!!!!!! Brackets were meant to race whatever you could throw together. Period. No rules except safety and no timing devices. Period. If red means breaking your budget, throw on really shitty tires and race yellow. Or find out what Chris W. puts in his Cherios and learn to race like him. Bum Philips once said about Don Shula "he could take his'n and beat your'n; then take your'n and beat his'n". That's Chris in race cars. 'nuf said. I'm going to race the Danger Ranger and street tires now ;D

So your recount is a little different then Lane's, highlighted here - "As it is now I'm starting to see an ass of money being spent to win "the plaque" and the holy grail the "series end trophy". In my opinion we are killing the affordable racing of the bracket series. Hell I remember when we first started this it looked like a lemons race out there ;D" T

T, It seems we have a few people really against the spec tire thing Yup.....well, I'll probably bring it up at the preseason meeting and if it goes to a democratic show of hands vote of attendants, I wouldn't count it out yet. You kinda have to wonder what the motive is for being against cheaper, closer racing.... I'd figure Ron Gaubert, Allen Simpson and Walt to be for. Anyways, y'all hash it out....., me and Eon are off to Ohio to scoop up this M Tech 318TI thyat I bought last week..... ;D T

I see patricks point, if he thinks he will lose time in the turns do to tire grip. He could just turn the boost up. He would just drag race from corner to corner therefor making up for his lost second with the spec tire. I think a spec tire would limit the people who could race because now they have to find a specific tire that may not be in their size or just not available at the used price. I know plenty of guys run grand am take offs or other series take offs because that is what they can find in there budget. When you start mandating racing rules you turn into SCCA which can make the budget much higher for some drivers, making them unable to participate. This is why NASA has grown so much in popularity compared to SCCA with the run whatcha brung mentality. If you want to run faster with the big boys either buy new faster tires or make your car faster. Ultimately it comes down to how do YOU want to race not how do you want everyone else to race. Jeremy, you must have missed the point.....made 16 and 7/8ths times already. Bracket is made up of mostly 944s THAT CAN'T CHANGE THEIR CAR JUST TO SUIT CGB........! T No I get the point but you are putting the argument in CGB. I think it depends what seried you want the car to be competitive in in your case. Do you want to be competitive and have tight racing in CGB or in PCA.

Do you want to be competitive and have tight racing in CGB or in PCA. Both, that's part of the deal here. The PCA race cars in question that double duty as CGB racers make up a 70-80 majority of red bracket and all of bracket in general. In other words, if you unplug the PCA race cars from Race 6 for example (Charity Challenge would not be a normal representation because PCA race was the same weekend), there would be 3 cars total running bracket including blue, yellow and red. Surely we warrant at least to have the right to voice an opinion here. Now, all of the 944s aint gonna agree with a spec tire rule so the yeahs and nays would make it interesting. I think it's only right that only people who competed in bracket in at least 1/2 of the races last season should have a right of vote. Hey, this may never even come up for consideration.....but, we have to talk about something.... ;D T

Well......, back from the trip from he11 with the car.
From BR all the way to Liberty Township Ohio, north of Cincinnati and back over the weekend to pick up a crashed Bimmer.
Worse flooding in 20-30 years through Nashville and surrounding areas.
Interstate washed out and flooded where we barely made it through.....pouring rain through 90% of the entire road trip.
15 people killed in the storm from tornadoes and flooding.
Had to leave the interstate to sleep Sat. night due to tornado warnings and left the road once Sunday when the county we were in at the time was under severe weather and tornado warning.
Now.....time to set this thread back afire.... ;D
Or, uh, how about some Lemons reports....?
Anybody...?

After fighting with a blown head gasket all day Saturday, we forgot to add oil and the motor started sounding like a can full of bolts. Patrick finished it off by porting the block and we made it home early on Sunday.

Dang.....that sucks, Carver sent us a couple of phone pics on the road and one of 'em was an early Bimmer on the flat bed. Was that y'all....? And who was in the early 944 and what happened to it....? Danger Ranger....? Who won...? T

Danger Ranger dnf after unexpected 4 wheel steering occured at turn5-6 when the driver side monoleaf broke, allowing the axle free movement fore and aft. Tim did a good job driving it back to the pits. Then we all had a great time trying to get it on the trailer. This was 2 hrs or so before the finish. Sat. we were pagued with electricval issues as the battery wasn't getting a charge. Swapped batteries 3 or 4 times, then decided to chase the electrical issue. Sat nite they got that solved and it ran great until spring sprung.

I GREATLY enjoyed passing the Lemons 944 like it was going backwards while driving our 1995 Nissan Altima on 205 15" 300 treadwear tires that were chunking while having a blown headgasket while honking the "La Cucaracha" horn like it was going backwards. If only you were there to see it T. And then I GREATLY enjoyed hearing the motor go from BLAAAAHHHAAHAHAH to harmonious silence at redline in 3rd gear within a millisecond. Patrick

Just a quick .02. You all have valid points, some have to be stretched around the corner to be valid, but none the less, valid. Why don't we all just show up, drop our keys or a marker of some sort to represent our car, and do a blind draw. I would love to drive a healthy Lane Sutton 944 or Gary Smalls 944 or Troys Honda. Would the racing be any closer? doubt it. Like Andy said, we all have our strengths and weaknesses and that's what makes the bracket system so great for our area. All the fun, less BS and a cast of characters that makes it all worth while. A spec tire would force drivers to spend x amount when there budget may only allow them y amount, result, racer races less on the same budget and no one wins. A warning though, Carver now has a whistle and is not afraid to use it!. One last note, no sirens or air horns on the cars in 010 please! Its cute at a lemons event, but in real life it may offend some of our speed challenged friends. Patrick, you should play nicer with the other children, they seemed to be working real hard to get out of your way. ChrisW

Not at y'all misfortune, just the rest of the post.....! That must have been one dog of a 944... Who were the drivers....? Helps to keep an eye on that oil level.....(I talked to Andy today). Man I really wanted to be there but I was on a Lemons run of my own. Worked a corner last year and was on T14 when the Barbie car decided to try the inside line there. Trouble was, he was inside the track surface and launched airborne using the tires... ;D T

I would love to drive a healthy Lane Sutton 944 or Gary Smalls 944 or Troys Honda. Hey....me too... You take the #142 and I'll take the #007 first round next year. It'll be like jumping into an old pair of shoes for both of us anyway. I haven't driven the red car since the engine blew with 4Master at the wheel and you haven't driven the old gray car since......uh, I'll have to check the log book and get back to you... ;D More on topic though......me and Eon drove 26 hours almost non-stop over the weekend and I couldn't even convince him in all that time that a spec tire was a good thing, so......, it's race tires for me I guess. Eon and Gary better get their game on. And to the rest of the bracket guys up ahead of me......remember, on board timing devices are NOT legal..... ;D T
