I'm just getting to see the video (long day at work today) and it's obvious that my initial recollection of the incident was a little off.
I keep asking myself if I overreacted to Marshall's sudden slowing and looking at the view from Walt's video sure makes it look that way. But then again it's obvious that he slowed so suddenly that even braking, swerving and sliding sideways I still got up along side of him after being completely behind him. The alternative was to plow into the back of him, which in the moment I did everything I could do to avoid.
Hindsight is 20/20, but if I had just been able to maintain control while going right I would have just driven right on by and said "man that was close". That said, what's done is done, everyone is ok and still on friendly terms and the cars involved can all be fixed.

Hee Hee.......! Re. the points totals, even a fictional driver named Troy Melancon is ahead of me... I wonder if the transponder on Clint Marcella's car is not reporting to timing and scoring... ;D T

You aren't an IPCC data contributor are ya Andy.....? Move that data sensor away from the air conditioning unit cooling fan exhaust, your retrievals are beyond the maximum variable... ;D By the way, Hawking is an atheist who believes that something as complex as DNA just happened by chance even though scientists can't even duplicate the conditions that can even create RNA.... You have my permission to bring that up before class tomorrow so your peers will think you are deep and complex.... ;D T [edited because I signed off on that one twice, and although I have had a few contributions that were good enough to warrant two closures.....this wasn't one of them.... ] We can definitely duplicate DNA and RNA. I did it just over two months ago.

OK two things: 1) My opinion is #1, ALWAYS slow down as much as you can before "finding the hole". Here's a good example of a bunch of people all slowing and moving out of the way of a wreck slowly and safely: www.streetfire.net/video/2009-gbrs-race-6-bracket-wreck_640339.htm 2) Chaos Theory only applies to Chaos models in which VERY small changes in initial conditions cause drastically different outcomes and how to trend those models. So yes, only slightly does chaos theory apply to motorsports, and this is one of those cases in which one person misses a shift and three cars are wrecked in the process. But, based on other (more traditional) statistical analysis, we can easily trend (without chaos theory) that more Porsches are wrecked on local racetracks than any other marquee. Therefore by statistical analysis, it is much more risky to run in classes with Porsche cars. patrick

Patrick, It might be that Porsche drivers are pushing their cars to the limit!

I'll have to agree that our marque has quite a few bone head drivers in the ranks. But not as bad as the prancing horse & tractor builder bunch though. ;D

Hey Patrick, if effect of chaos can be known at the outcome end, why can't it be countered as control on the input end...? Remember the second bit....."theory". As in "evolution" and "big bang". T
