1:22.xx is quite a lap. Most of our race cars don't turn those times. Good job.
I'm going to take up tennis, now.

The suspension I have is basically one step down from a full coil-over setup. The HP I am pushing is as much as you can get out of these engines without some serious modifications (ported heads, thumper cams, forced induction, nitrous, etc.). Will most likely be picking up that RX-7 that Troy is selling. Trying to schedule a day to go out to the track and check it out. We are also trying to become a licensed dismantler at work. That would allow us to bid on the insurance claim totaled cars. In fact they have a S197 GT that comes up for bid on Monday. Plan on gettin the RX-7 as my starter car (low HP so I can focus more on the driving part) and then upgrading to something a bit more powerful down the line. An S197 would be perfect. I already know every single mod that needs to be done to make it race ready and they are great cars on top of that. Cheap to kit out too.

It will open the doors of where you can run as it has an SCCA log book.

gmoran, Excellent work. 24's in street car is a feat...Dot R's or not. I have logged 1:23.5 in a 2002 Z06 completely stock on the stock tires on a 100 deg day and logged 1:23.4 in a 2008 Evo X Completely stock w/ crap old race rubber on it; so 24's and 22's are MOVING in heavy cars. I agree with Andy on this one...you just need to come out and get some seat time to get more comfortable w/ car and track now. Definitely read the Speed Secrets book (at least 1 and 2) by Ross Bentley. Lots to learn in there that is practical help. you SURE you don't want to buy the MR2? T, While I love driving high powered, cars I'm not opposed to running lower power as well...see you guys in bracket soon. Patrick

Besides, I think I need to start out in something a bit slower and work on my driving skills first. Got a copy of Ross Bentley's on it's way to me now .

He doesn't believe in books. This could be interesting, though. After you read the book, comment about whether or not it helped you.

gmoran, T, While I love driving high powered, cars I'm not opposed to running lower power as well...see you guys in bracket soon. Patrick By "soon"....do you mean as early as the Charity Challenge...? Hmm, might have to rent Carver's car because I'm only doing the PCA races...., unless DC let's me do a heat or something in the #007 if he get's tired or burned out from doing both events. As far as next year, if I have to throw everything out of my shop space and lock the door, I'm working on finishing my own d@mned car soon......, in that case, your MR2 might be gone to another owner by then. I was looking forward to a mouse displacement battle and seeing your front bumper in my mirror.... ;D T

It's not easy to do, especially in a street car, ESPECIALLY with only half a lap to warm up. No old Venus Flytrap here. I have a lot of respect for people that run fast times like that.

Even if I don't learn anything from the read it certainly won't make me a worse driver so no harm done.
