Street class at our bracket series races is one of the smallest groups. I find it odd, because the people who run it it seem to be the most happy go lucky personalities on the property. What can the track do in general to help get those numbers up? Thanks in advance for your time,
Chris

When the track opened we had 60 plus cars in no-e and 25 or so Street. Times have changed now we get about 40 cars in no e and 12 or so cars in Street. Take $10 of the $20 entry fee put in pot pay winner and runner up. Have buybacks 1st or 2nd round. Give trophy to winner and runner up if more than 8 cars. No points needed this year.

Frank you're right. Times have changed and that was the good ol days before the economy hit bottom. As far as street, since There is no payouts or points, you basically forced them guys to run no e. There's a bunch of us that cannot afford to go out there and run for a trophy, me being one of them. The guys that do come and run on Friday night won't come on Saturday because of the competition, and the cars and drivers they know they're going to have to run. The midnight madness crowd probably won't come because they just want to see how fast their car can go, and a bunch of them guys don't understand bracket racing, or even know what bracket racing is

yeah i agree with you both. when i realized how much money i was going in the hole every weekend i had to pull out of street class racing. i couldnt cover the gas money to get out there even if i did manage to win. Another idea to mull around is advertising the street division. Guys that I've talked to that wanted to get into racing didn't know that the track catered to non-pros with less than 500 horses. its not just about getting the vet street guys in street, but its always nice to see a new face behind the wheel. maybe putting an ad in the auto section of the newspaper classifieds may help. Just throwing that into the hat

Great input so far guys, keep it up. I especially like the idea of advertising the product. The angle of getting new guys in their regular street cars would be a great introduction to what we do at the track. The thought of putting some cash back into a purse sounds do able when the car count picks up a bit. Lets keep talking.

For advertising how about a write up of the Friday night racing and the following Saturday Q-16. Kind of a recap of the races and winners, nothing fancy. Email it to all the local papers, they always happy for some news to put in the paper. At the bottom put the next race dates in it and invite the readers to come and see there neighbors and friends or themselves for only a measly 10 bucks. FREE ADVERTISING.

Is this pertaining to the drag strip or the road course? I am guessing the strip... Got an 09' S197 I've been waiting to see what kinda 1/4m time I can get. It's basically stock.

Keith that is a good idea. I think you need a lil incentive for the winner of a Saturday bracket race other than a trophy. You could give the winner of the previous race a free buy back, or a free tech, or run the points system and give them a gold card. I know car counts are low but I think a lil incentive, and some advertising will bring it back up. Nobody is ever going to run a Saturday bracket race without a pay out, unless the trophy is an NHRA Wally of course.

From what I am hearing and seeing, this is what I have so far. This thread alone has had 170 plus views so there is interest in some form. The concesus is to make the races for this group have some meaning and for it to be a stepping stone for the newbie as well as a fun place for the racers to run if they choose. That being said, this is what I am thinking. In May, we have a NPR Bracket Series Race on the 12th. What if I were to find a way to cover the Tech card for anyone who wanted to run street for that day. The drivers would still have to pay $10 at the gate, but the other ten towards the tech card would be taken care of. A free race of sorts in an effort for all of our racers to get friends, relatives, co workers to come out and experiance what you guys and gals do. We would offer a Drag Racing 101 class an hour or so before the races begin and make sure everyone who attends felt comfortable with what thay are about to accomplish. Thoughts? ? Chris

Like the ideas. If you do find a way to cover the tech card fees, please advertise it and not just on here. I know we have a lot of members, but not everybody gets on the forum.

We will definately have flyers and other methods of getting the word out. How else could we give a benefit to a potential sponsor? Thanks for the input.

Put Sponsor's logo on flyers...have your sponsor avertised everytime you called Street up and when they run. Another thing would be to have a sign made with that sponsor's logo on it for the winner circle pic.
