For me, not a stellar event. First my transponder wasn't working (and no one said anything), then the steering rack tried to find another home outside my car (Thanks Chris C and Troy M for the fix). The subsequent alignment settings made the car too twitchy to race. But, it was still better than fishing!
To the red 300ZX, I understand my dance between 1 and 2 sent you off in the grass. Very sorry and hope you got back out to racing after the radiator change.

Very sorry and hope you got back out to racing after the radiator change. Hey, I'm with ya. There were quite a few problems around the paddock yesterday. Dennis Paul lost his rack and pinion too....both mounting bolts worked loose and fell out, dnf'ing him in the feature. Teddy scraped his left rear and bent a Buckley header on the #36 911 when he brushed the T14 tire wall. Pretty sure I heard Carver's notorious misfire back on the #76 car. Not sure what Rebstock's problems were but he didn't look to have anything close to a good day either. I heard something pop in the rear of the gray car going to practice grid and waived my son over but blew it off to a spring just resettling on a perch.....turns out, the upper shock eye probably came disconnected from the shock shaft and I spun the right rear tire around 50% of the lap all day. Should have checked it out in more detail but I blew it off to crappy tires. Thought maybe Troy had installed some other goodies along with his shiny new paint because I am usually right there either on his hatch all race or him on my rear bumper and I was nowhere near him yesterday. Ah well....I had fun catching a back end all day and doing a great start in the heat splitting Julius and Fred going three wide through T10 at the start. ;D T

By the way, yes, Winston ran off 20-30 miles and got a new radiator for his 300ZX and made the feature.

Darren, sorry again about the t sponder not being brought to your attention earlier. Did you ever confirm that is was operational? Also food for thought, a wise man once told me that a race car is a 2500# blender and should be inspected like one. I use a white grease pencil to touch all the bolts I can physically see under the car at least every other event and it is amazing what you will find loosens up. Keep the bolts tight and the racing even tighter!

Chris - if you have times for me at all in the feature, my transponder was working. Please let me know and I will go from there.

Ah well....I had fun catching a back end all day and doing a great start in the heat splitting Julius and Fred going three wide through T10 at the start. ;D T I really enjoyed this one. DC asked me what I had done to my car besides having it painted, but I haven't done anything major. I have been running a different ecu for the last 3 races and I finally got the a/f ratio where I want it (was running too rich). I also adjusted my corner weights for the first time since the wreck and found the LF was a little off ride height wise throwing my cross weight off by a couple of percent. I also gave up on the Kumho V710 experiment and ran on NT-01's all weekend but I've run the Nittos plenty of times before. I really think the biggest difference is that I'm really motivated to race and improve my driving for the first time since the first year I raced the CRX. At one point last summer I was seriously considering selling everything and finding a new hobby. I really felt like I got most of what the car is capable of this weekend and I drove pretty much mistake free. I do have a new header to install that's supposed to be good for a few more ponies on the D16 motor. Hopefully I'll have it ready by next race.

Roger that....heck, seat time pays big too and I just hadn't been racing in a while. Did a couple of practice and heats in Eon's car last year while he did the features but all on occasions where we were loading the car for out of state races so I never really pushed it and it's that last 5% that keeps you polished. I never risk his car on starts either and for me, that's the best part of the race. Breaking out the gray car's log book to be signed for race 5, I noticed the last event for the car was 7/11, the enduro, that was 6 months since being on track and the car had a gremlin then that ended us up early and I never even got to my stint so it's been quite a while for me. Anyways, hadn't seen any times but I'd guess I probably ran .27's trying to hold off Julius and McMullan......with 3 shocks... ;D T

Man, the timing on mylaps is really screwed. Darby's times still didn't show in the feature, there are no bracket practice times, Teddy Busick, properly named as 'Teddy THE GREAT' is changed to (and I appreciate it.. ;D) 'Terry THE GREAT' for the feature, Doc Phil (understandable - there were 2 car #142s) is attributed the times for Frankie instead of his new 911 and whoa....Rebstock ran a 1.19.... Also, in the order of finish for the feature, I think Gary was posted as 4th or 5th and I could have sworn I saw him being towed back down the cane field escape road during the race...? Thought I had got below 1.28 with the three legged mule in the heat fending off Fred and Julius, especially as I burned off some of the 15 gallons of fuel left in the tank from the enduro.... but NOPE....! 1.28.600 through all three sessions for me and Eon managed a 1.27.400. Said he rarely spun a wheel while I was lighting the RR up all over the place.....he's way smoother, lighter on the throttle app and braking while I'm wide the F open every chance I get ( ), guess there's something to be said for being smooth. Using my GPS RaceKeeper data, looks like I got down to a 1:26.7 during qualifying. I was following Troy around on those laps and pushing to keep up with him.

About Rebstock's 1:19 lap, he told me he had to take the escape road at T1, so he should have been docked that lap. He was towed in during the heat race, but I don't believe he was during the feature.

New operator with updated system. We have all the data to go back and get the results corrected before they are posted. This will be done in the next day or so. Sorry if it has caused any inconvenience.
