Okay Spec Miata owners, you know what's coming next: Race 3, just in time to end the summer on a racing note! We had the good fortune of having Keith Lanasa and Ben Cherbonnier race with us last time, along with a hard-charging rookie, Jason Kennedy. We raced pretty well with the Porsche and the Cobra for a long time in the rain.
I hope our old friends, Chris Plaisance, Shane, Sarah, Tommy, Bob, Barry, Brent, Joe, Nate and Vic will show up for the finale, along with the guys in our last race, as well as any rookies or others from around the world. We welcome the outside competition. The bigger the field the better, as everyone will have someone to race with, whether at the front, in the middle, or in the rear. There are 14 Spec drivers listed, not even counting a couple of drivers like Brent M and Kenny K, who drive other cars as well.
Guys, if you aren't racing somewhere else on Aug. 20th, come race with US at CGB! Wilkens has PROMISED cooler and dryer weather-or at least,I wish he would deliver cooler and dryer weather, but in any event, we WILL HAVE WEATHER of some kind. See you in August!
IF you are planning or trying to come and race with us, would you please let us know by posting here? Thank you!

I finally bought a motor to replace the one I blew in the first race. Hopefully I'll get it together before then.

That's great. You have more than 3 weeks to get ready for #3. That's an omen.... You can DO it.

Not miata related, but we took the shock off the 44 last night and it is not terminal. I have retained the services of Dr. Marshall to wheel the car in the SS#3 and hopefully give Mr. Max a run for his money. See Yall then,
Chris

So, which car will the good doctor be driving? "44" is code for what? The Bimmer, the 007, the 0, or maybe the Vette, the Batmobile?

Will probably have Eon's car out there to test the wreck fix and alignment by then. Only have to sort out the stripped rear a-arm attachment capture nuts and set the rear toe that moved.... He only got a few laps in the 400, probably kinda rusty... Down to only a month or so to finish my new SP2 car too and still have to swap engine, trans, roll cage, seat over to Doc Phil's new chassis before the PCA race at Laguna. T

Eon's 44 will be more than welcome next time. I like to race with those cars for as long as I can keep up. The S2 heads put out some pretty good ponies on the straights, huh?

Uhm, yeah they do Reg, around 70 more ponies than the stuff we have. Those S2 heads and 3 liter blocks are too expensive and hard to find when you break something or neglect the maintenance though. T

Speaking of Ponies, Bob's got his SM for sale and is upgrading to a '99, and Shane might be doing the same thing. Another SM driver is also looking at '99s. I wonder if one of those cars will be attending SS #3? If so, LOOK OUT bracket cars! Nate in a '99 finished second only to the good Doc LaHaye in January, and in fact might have reeled in the good Doc had the race lasted longer. IS THAT POSSIBLE? Look at Mylaps.com for January, 2011. Of course, it was cold and raining and the good Doc might have slackened the pace once he got out front. On the other hand, the '99 turned a 1:24.3 in the SM Heat race, and 24.2 in practice. So, the field should be different in main season 2011-12, and might be different for SS#3. This 3rd race could be interesting. P.S. Make that FOUR SM drivers looking for '99s. The field is changing....

I would like to make the SS #3 but as of right now I don't know if i will be able. If I do come I'll be bringing a 1.6l. I think the 1.6l will be a faster car at CGB.

Dang, Nate. If it's any faster you need to stay HOME! LOL You were only a few tenths off the track record in January. But then, it's a lot hotter and greasier in August. I do Hope you can make it, though. We will have an anchor to hook on your back bumper....

Bob Jelley is driving at MSR Houston this weekend. Wish I could join him, but have committments. He's driving his new '99 SM, so let's wish him well. I'm sure there's plenty of competition and Bob will acquit himself very well.

dmq, how's the engine swap coming along? I hope you can make the next race. Nate, how's your schedule working out? We hope you'll bring your SM to play. Chris P, Vic, Eon, Tommy, Shane, and you other guys, can you guys join us in the last race? Competition is a good thing! Let us hear from you.
