Will a SA2000 helmet be allowed in the 10/11 season. Most racing organizations are allowing it for one more year. The SA2010 helmets are not available for sale yet and the 2010 standards will make the new helmets safer than current helmets. Please don't make me buy a SA2005 helmet when a better-safer one will be available soon. Thanks, Rob

Rob, I am in the same boat as you. Please help us make an informed decision by providing us with data as to the availability of the new helmets and reference your source. If the new helmets are for sure going to be available in Sept / October and if other nationally recognized sanctioning bodies, ie SCCA, PCA, are going to give an extention on the SA2000, I see no reason why we, the GCRS, would not follow suit. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

Max 225 573-0664 Dude, I was working the administrator at Rennlist today trying to recall my password so I could pop in there and holler at some old friends and here you are posting for the first time over here!?!?!?!?! I need to go stir up some of the surrounding state guys to come play with us. How could you possibly have lurked here for 10 months and not make a comment until now....? ;D For those that don't know....Max is the Bell helmet connection. And a pretty good driver too.... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) T

I got a reply from a contact with the SCCA Rob, I'm a member of the Club Racing Board - the folks who make these rules. What I said in my answer above is what SCCA has done for at least the last three iterations of the helmet standards. I can guarantee that there will be no change in the requirement for SA2000 or later helmets in 2011. Your SA2000 helmet will be accepted throughout 2011. Dave Gomberg The NHRA is doing the same. www.smf.org/standards/sa/SA2010/sak2010cover_5-18-09.htm This link to Snell explanes why the delay was necessary. The SA2010 helmets will not be available for sale till Oct 1 2010. I contacted Pegasus about a Bell helmet and got the same story, not available till Oct 1.
