Racing Returned to No Problem Raceway December 9, 2012 for the No Problem Raceway Bracket Series. As always, races were close at the finish line, and competition was tough.
The annual King of the Track Shootout was held Saturday morning after the Jr. Dragster competition was completed. Kevin Henry from Prairieville, LA represented the Box Class in his Mullis RED. Dean LeBlanc from New Iberia, LA represented the Motorcycle Class with his Kawasaki. Jimmy “Cooter” Hidalgo represented the No Box category with his Donaldsonville based Pontiac Firebird. Last but not least, Monte Howard represented the Street class with his El Camino.
First round of eliminations paired Kevin Henry with Dean LeBlanc. LeBlanc dialed 9.26 would leave first but would be late at the tree with a .144 reaction time, and then break out trying to get there first going 9.235 on his 9.26 dial. Henry would put together an outstanding run. He would be .013 at the tree and go 7.492 on his 7.49 dial to put together a fifteen-thousandths package to go to the finals. The other pair was Cooter Hidalgo taking on Monte Howard. Hidalgo would win this one easily as he was .041 at the tree and go 10.280 on his 10.23 dial for the win. Howard was .231 at the tree and go 12.908 on his 13.00 dial.
In the final round, Kevin Henry would dial his RED 7.47 and take on Hidalgo who was dialed 10.15. Hidalgo would push the tree just a little to much, turning it -.010 red giving the win automatically to Kevin Henry who was .059 and just coasted on through for the win.
In Saturday’s Main Event race, in the No Box class, the final round once again had Jimmy Hidalgo Jr in it. He would be taking on Lloyd Brown who had the bye run in the semi-final round. Hidalgo got to the finals by taking on Roy Latino. In the final round, Lloyd Brown had the better reaction time with an .012 but would take too much stripe and go 11.012 on his 11.04 dial. Hidalgo would be .044 at the tree and go 11.002 on his 10.98 dial for the win.
In the Box class, we saw two motorcycles in the final round. Dean LeBlanc from New Iberia, LA took on Mike Hamby Sr. Hamby would push the tree and turn it red by .005.LeBlanc would pick up the win with a .017 reaction time, and go 9.263 on his 9.20 dial.
In the Street class, Devin Legnon from New Iberia, LA took on Ron “Porky” Boudreaux from Thibodaux, LA. Boudreaux was .045 at the tree and went 12.300 on his 12.29 dial but that was not good enough. Legnonn was .007 and went 13.185 on his 13.15 dial to pick up the win.
