Hey Patrick, Love the pimpy new flares and dubs. Is this the setup that will alow you to run the takeoff slicks? Yes, just went from 16 x 7.5 fronts to 18 x 9 and from 16 x 8 rears to 18 x 10. Gained a little weight, but it's GOT to be worth it in the rubber gained alone. Went from 225 front to 245 (or 255) and 255 rear to 275 (or 285). 245 / 285 is shown. I am hoping to finally be able to use more (if not all) of the brakes on the car. Been having contact patch issues under braking for quite a while now. Yes full slick take-offs on the cheap = 50-90 a pop. Should save me a ton of money in the long run. Flares were $150, and the wheels were $660 shipped. No spacers required, they offered a few offsets and these worked perfectly. Patrick

Hey Patrick, Love the pimpy new flares and dubs. Is this the setup that will alow you to run the takeoff slicks? Hee hee, no joke.....looks pretty cool. Patrick...., how'd you decide on the height to place the rear wing...? Is the car normally this high off the ground in the front...? That splitter is pretty high off the deck. You ever consider a couple of dive planes in addition to the spoiler to help your under steer bias...? Er...did I ever mention that I paint race cars as a sideline..... ;D T T, thanks for the comments. The wing was free, and the mounts were there. I plan on extending them 1' in the future to get some clean air. Right now I suspect the placement is OK since the trunk lid line diverges from it which adds a little bit to the downforce where it's at. I also did the computations on the design of the wing and added the 2" of chord with aluminum which should have yielded 80 more lbs of DF at 100 mph totaling around 300#. I can literally stand on the wing in it's current configuration. But, I know Aero doesn't really help that much on this track since 100 mph through turns only happens in 1 place, hence why the splitter isn't touching the ground. Car did not raise AT ALL from where it was previously. I was running a very tall tire and putting these side by side showed that there was less than 1/4" in total height difference (which would only make 1/8" raise - negligible ). So yeah, the splitter isn't doing much more than putting more air in the radiator, dive planes "barely" add anything to aero anyway so I am not worried about them. Really my aero is simply for looks. Also thanks for the offer for the paint, but my dad is a world-class car restorer and painter...seriously one of the best there is and it's done right from home. His paint work has won numerous awards. I already talked to him and we are going to do the whole car as soon as I know it's not going to rub anywhere. Patrick

So underneath the flares, you just hacked a new higher fender arch...?
Videos....back on topic, DC, Troy, Walt....where are the vids....?
I promise to try and get an angle that shows something other than an opaque whitened out windshield next round.

T Here's my video from the feature. I'm still not getting back on the gas soon enough and I'm checking my mirrors way too much. But I'm improving each time and getting faster. I've gotta get more comfortable with sliding the car around. Enjoy!

One vid left to edit. HD is a PITA. I have to combine 2 files for the heat race and so far have been unsuccessful. The feature did not come out but qualifying did so that will be posted first. Pointers OK but do not expect responses for every comment. Check Vimeo later tonite.

I hear ya on the editing of HD videos I think I got it down now with that pinnacle software, but my trial is about up Guess I'm going to have to break down and buy it... What did you end up using to edit yours?

I promise to try and get an angle that shows something other than an opaque whitened out windshield next round. T T, yes you line up the flare where you want it, mark it, then mark 1 inch down from that line and cut off. Same deal installing flares on a 911 or other. (Gt racing has a good writeup of how to do it "right".) On topic, T, your 142 car from Troy's perspective has a WICKED lean to it down the straight...is this in efforts to get the weight jacked correctly?? That seems like at least a 1" drop towards the driver's side...is there something wrong with the car?
