According to Harris, they keep - 100 unleaded 104 unleaded 110 unleaded all SunoCo. They have some others, I guess just for the drag racers too but they all are leaded. We just run V-Power at the Shell pump... ;D T

I wish they had some 93 octane without corn juice added. I would buy another barrel of it!

Lane, I know you are looking for a higher octane, so I can't help with that. I don't know what is available around you guys but over on my side of the state we have one refinery (Conoco) that does not have the capability to blend their gas with ethanol. I buy my gas from this refinery. I can bring some to the races that I attend for anyone who provides me with a container.

I had Kent put all of the fuel types on the Dragstrip site. I will ask him to put the same info on this site as well. I know we have over 14 different varieties of racing fuels in stock at the fuel shed. Please keep an eye out for the updated list.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm not looking for higher octane gas. I'm looking for gas that is not blended with ethanol. My car is designed to run on 87 octane so therefore any octane higher than that is a waste of money with no positive effect.

Hmm, the sticker on your fuel fill door should bear part number - 113 000 263 b or 930 701 203 01 and both of those list 91 RON or 91 ROZ (German for "octane research number"). Either way, if you srcub the DME keep alive memory to erase the DME learn and use higher octane fuel, the DME will advance the timing until the knock sensor reports detonation, which would come at a higher spark advance setting, so, yeah, higher octane will improve performance but not by just dumping better fuel in. Uh wait...., no, no, just use 87RON... ;D T

My car doesn't have knock sensors so I'm not sure the DME will adjust. Your correct about the 91 octane but its my understanding that 87 octane has a faster burn rate than 91, 93, etc... which should be more efficient = more hp for my low compression engine.

There are several non ethanal options around town. I use the station that is next to the old coke plant on airline. I can pick up any grade you want next time I am over there. Or you can drive by with the car on the trailer and fill it up when you come to town. Carver

Chris, that's was my plan but I figured that if the track had the fuel I would buy it there. Still don't know the price at the track per gallon besides it looks like 100 octane + is all they have.

Sorry Boss, I was just posting up what I could find on the Drag race site. Prices are not on the sheet. But now that you know what you car can do (Thanks Terry) You should be much faster this year. Carver

Your correct about the 91 octane but its my understanding that 87 octane has a faster burn rate than 91, 93, etc... which should be more efficient = more hp for my low compression engine. Yup, out of the three compression ratios used throughout the 944 series of non-turbo 8V engines, 9.5:1 would be the lowest....., still not too shabby. There's a company across the river from me that I used to do some trans work for, Palmer Fuels, they'll blend whatever you want and at today's pump prices anyway....a 55 gallon drum isn't such a bad idea. VP is out of Texas, and I'm pretty sure that they will deliver you a drum to any place that's already on their normal delivery route. As far as flame travel and burn speed, only the S, S2 and 968 have hemispherical heads so the 8V doesn't even have a centered spark so, I don't think I'd worry too much about flame travel and burn speed, no real gains to be had there with an already less than perfect design that you can't alter.....at high rpms though, sharp edge parts within the combustion chamber don't have time to cool off and will stay lit up like a glow plug all the way until the next combustion cycle unless you take precautions during assembly to blend sharp corners like the outline of your cylinder head's combustion chamber, (especially after it's been planed). Really, you should even insert the brand and style spark plug you use, mark the necessary thread depth and remove all of the extra threads with a carbide bit or stone....but...., you probably already knew that... ;D T
