I saw this posted on another website, and was curious if anyone had heard any news about the possibility of NASA coming back.
Dear NASA Texas Region Member,
The National Auto Sport Association would like to thank you for choosing us as your motorsports venue and we are excited to introduce a new initiative to deliver more local track event opportunities to you. We are proud to announce an aggressive plan for expansion in 2011 that will continue the growth of the NASA Texas Region in Texas and Oklahoma as well as introduce new events in New Mexico and Louisiana. As part of our expansion, you can expect to see a larger variety of events to choose from at venues that you may have yet to experience. One of our immediate and primary goals is to bolster our HPDE program and make it the most sought after program in the area, as it is in other parts of the country. As proven elsewhere, the strength of HPDE has dramatic positive effects on the racing and Time Trial programs. To that end, we are gearing up to accommodate two to three times the number of participants during a race weekend.
With a larger geographical area to serve, an increased number of events, and the projected increase in participation, regional management will undergo change as well. To effectively serve the needs of the expanded region, the NASA National office will directly operate the region and has selected Dave Balingit to be the Regional Director. Mr. Balingit is currently the Regional Director for NASA Rocky Mountain and has agreed to come onboard in a full time capacity to give proper attention to both regions. As such, Jay and Shannon Matus will be transitioning management duties while remaining focused on their signature Texas Mile event and their personal racing efforts.
Additional details such as the 2011 schedule, open staff positions, and changes to the HPDE program can be found at: www.nasatxracing.com/ as they become available. While change can be uncomfortable in the short term, we hope that you will quickly see benefit from the additional resources we have committed and that you continue to enjoy driving with NASA. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Dave Balingit
Regional Director
