Thanks for the replies. I did not really expect to get such a fast response. I read most of the available info, but other than the title, I couldn't find details on the format of the events shown on the calendar.
I've seen the Lightnings in all types of motorsport events, I guess GCB is a relatively slow track that's probably more friendly to lighter 'cornering' vehicles.... even still I'd like to lap it a couple times just for the fun of it and to learn its true limits.... may the future will allow ownership of a track car.... we'll see
Anyway, so how do I register once I pick a session? Also, how are you all timing laps? I had a timer in my motorcycle days, but not sure what beacons are being used now.
Cool, now that the truck's eligibility is ironed out, time to get you going on the first hits of the track pipe on four wheels so we can move onto the real business of talking about your next move....., a dedicated track tool.... ;D
I used to ride a lot myself and owned a bike for most of my life but honestly, the cars are way safer and just as much fun.
As far as the track being "slow", uhm, well, no, I'd say it's a good mix of variable speed corners and some would even define it as a power track but.....you'd have to have power I guess to lean to that conclusion...
Average speeds around a lap range from around 75-78mph for the Spec Miata and brackets all the way up to 88mph in a GT or open wheel Formula car.
No matter where you find yourself speed-wise, there's a spot for you to race and race competitively against car/driver combos of equal speed.
Even the lapping days are grouped such that you'll be on track with drivers and cars at your same relative level so you won't be intimidated while learning your vehicle's nuances and testing your own skill level.
What else....., yes, to search and sign up.
www.clubregistration.netRegister a profile there.
Once signed in, used the menu tab and select, "search for events".
From there, under the "organization" heading, select "race track".
Under "club", select 'Circuit at grand Bayou'.
Then lastly, under "event type", select "multi event".
The upcoming local events should show up on screen now and you can pick any one and then click "continue" with no danger of actually committing yet.
Here on this page you can use tabs to read event descriptions, check fees and look at options.
So....that should get you started.
By the way.....welcome......., and feel free to ask away if you have further questions.....somebody will be along shortly to help you out to get on track asap and whatever issues you have along the way, we have the full gambit of knowledgeable members here that have all the bases covered.
And DO introduce yourself to as many people at the track as possible.
I can be found by asking anyone to point you towards 'Turbo-T'.
Or....alternatively....just use your own better judgement and look for the person who looks logically like the most naturally gifted person in attendance and that will be me...... ;D
