I posted my video of the bracket feature #1 on vimeo. It's the only one of the 3 features where I was in an actual race. www.vimeo.com/11153173Troy, looking on from the outside this time, you did a d@mned fine job from my vantage point. I saw most of the bracket racing and watched the final Miata and bracket race from T10 on the gravel road side of the drag strip. Very cool vantage point. Normally I would have used your performance to gauge where i would have been if I had raced in y'all group but other than Race 1 maybe, I'd have been nowhere near you guys this weekend. Good job. And yeah, the GT battles up front were fun to watch too. T In race 1 Gary S. (old tires), Carver (old NT-01's) and myself (old NT-01's) were all running laps within a tenth of each other in the low 26's so we had a good battle. In race 2 Gary S. had new Hoosiers, Carver put on V-710's, Wilken was clicking off consistent 24's along with Carver and Rebstock, so I just watched them motor off into the distance. Race 3 was a rerun of race 2 for me also. I wasn't from a lack of effort on my part as I was pushing as hard as I could, but I just need to find a way to improve both the car and my driving before I can run consistently with the front runners.

Yup, I hear ya.....and I'd have been pretty spot on with guess of using y'all for a gauge because I had about an equal battle with Gary's 944 in Race 1 on the same tires he was on in y'all heat. I guess this was the point of the weekend where Carver lost the cylinder until the knock sensor fix...? And.....re. Carver, now I see the reason why he didn't comment on Goddard's agricultural line in Eon's vid.... ;D I wasn't from a lack of effort on my part as I was pushing as hard as I could, but I just need to find a way to improve both the car and my driving before I can run consistently with the front runners. In the same boat again.....if Gary has a vid of our Race 1, you'll see that I'm going 100%. The cheesy video that I'll post eventually from Race 2 shows that I'm on par with a normal weekend as far as throttle and brake % but I'm just overall slower due to the tires. I was a little timid, more angular on turn in at T10 which I think slowed my lap times but I had almost lost the rear end big time there following Gary in Race 1. I'm gonna go through a low mile engine I have set aside for Frankie, hopefully put me equal to Eon's engine on power so me and the Doc can split stints in the GCRS for next year while I'm finishing my own car. Also, I just landed another 318TI that is slightly wrecked on two corners that I think I can make into another decent red bracket car but I won't have it on the ground until next weekend. Once I get it here and strip it to see how it plays out for minimum weight, I'll make that decision then. Stock 1.9L 16V with the head I have for it should yield 140-145bhp crank, 120-ish at the wheels should put it on par with a 944 8VNA, you, and Carver's car in the P/W dept. ;D T

Just say the word and it's yours.

Andy, I saw the F/S post by Donovan....., so what are you going to race....? I'm looking for somebody to go in partnership on this 318TI buildup. Once I get what I want off this second car, the engine, auto trans and full interior, I'm going to be left with the "M-Technic" version of one of these bodies, which as you probably know is, sport suspension, badging, sport interior, the 4.44 differential and the "M" front and rear nose. This particular car has the "California" roof but this should even be better once gutted and filled with sheet aluminum (lighter than a hard top). I'd transfer the bumpers but they have some damage on them, repairable but probably not to street quality. What do you recon I can get one of these 318s down to in weight...? So...., I have a good chassis, the cage bending equipment and I have a 1998 1.9L engine (currently disassembled) that needs the +.50mm overbore and an already tweaked cylinder head. What say you....? Anybody....? Have project and skills...., need help.... ;D Here;s the car - T (will move post and delete original later to stay on race weekend topic)) That car was never my race car. I just used it for testing. I have a whole Silver body over here, suspension, engine, trans, lsd, everything. The only thing I'm unsure about is how different the rear suspension is. I'll call you shortly.

Thanks to those who put on the event, sponsors and the volunteers. I had a blast. The GT Group had some good, clean, close and exciting racing. Race 1 on Saturday was very close with Paul Donovan who broke into the 120's in his GT3 Beemer. I am not sure if that is the GT3 record or not but it is damn fast. Race 3 was very close with Jeff Lutz who got by me in 14 and held me off until the last lap. Nice driving guys! Jeff and Paul, let me know when you have the video up! I am debating on whether a cool suit used once a year is worth the investment? Doug Thanks for the kind words, Doug. It was a pleasure trying to keep up with you. I mistakenly uploaded an edited race #2 to my personal vimeo page, I'll let you know when it's up on the GCRS page. I'm doing a cool suit just to be cool.

Wow! A BMW 3 series ran for over a minute and didn't appear to: 1) break a motor mount 2) tear the rear subframe 3) destroy a rear wheel bearing 4) blow a head gasket ;D ;D ;D Seriously, I hope you get the 318 project going. It would be cool to have some more variety in the brackets, but get the turbo done first!

No doubt about that. I did feel a little twitch in my check writing hand when Donovan posted the ad for Burch's old car. Driving momentum cars gets old really quick when you get walked by just about everything on the straights. My wife did tell me once after watching one of my race videos "When are you going to get a car with some horsepower?" I'm holding that in reserve for future use. ;D

You also forgot- 7) Beat the pants off of everything else on track with less than twice the HP. LOL x 25 psi boost....! Kerry Brown ran 1.20 flat in an '89 Porsche S2 with 208hp crank last weekend.....that's around 175bhp at the wheel in a 3000 lb E stock car that still has an A/C compressor..... No doubt about that. I did feel a little twitch in my check writing hand when Donovan posted the ad for Burch's old car. Driving momentum cars gets old really quick when you get walked by just about everything on the straights. I hear ya.....that's a stonkin' deal. My wife did tell me once after watching one of my race videos "When are you going to get a car with some horsepower?" I'm holding that in reserve for future use. ;D Hee hee......, my wife just wants to know how a car with a 10 year pedigree of racing across the entire United States (the #142) can't keep up with the $1000 impound yard car that me and Eon built in my storage space/shop...... ;D T

The fastest lap I could find for Kerry Brown was 1:22.313. He may run a 1:20.xx when he installs the Fast Guys 944 A/C Delete Kit he bought at the race. In all seriousness, his driving really impressed me. He is quick.

Believe me...Burch's car will give you a whole new perspective on being HP disadvantaged when you have to go up against V8's & V10'S in GT, but it is still one hell of a deal!

Everyone has seen what that car is capable of and, at that price, it is a steal.

A 1:22.3 is still impressive considering the car but we are still waiting on a turbo car to come out and put us GT guys scratching our heads... MR2 is down for a bit while I sort my fuel vapor lock problem out. I need to give it some TLC too and I have the lemons car to finish this week, and I have a house and property to sell so we will see what happens over the summer. Patrick
