Clint, if you are checking in - what exactly happened to you in the feature....? I was heading to T8 and saw you off in the grass where it almost looked like you were coming out of the cane field.... Oh....and 'Happy Birthday' to Troy, thanks for taking Eon's fan club down to T1 and giving them the play by play.... ;D T I was happy to provide the fan club transportation and answer questions. BTW-Since they couldn't see all the way around the track, the consensus among your family members was that you must have bumped Eon out of the way to get past. I thought that was pretty funny. It's really hard to sit around and watch, but I should be back in the CRX in January.

Great job by Chris, Lois, Kent, Harris and all the CGB crew. We need to follow Chris's call to get more racers out there. I've been to TWS, Watkins Glen, and Barber this year... this is absolutely the best deal in road-racing! Yep, absolutely....new people. There were also 5-10 regulars that were either out of town racing or had other issues that kept them away this time. Personally, I think a big part of the future success of the track can/will be the spectator gate take. This past weekend's agenda was prime to show what fun a weekend can be even for non-racers (fans) and if we could get 1-200 fans through the gate on race day, that equals around another 15 race entry fees, more future concessions, etc. but even more than that, it'd be 200 more people spreading the word which should result in even more fans. I think it was a good idea to feature the Miata guys, then eventually, the rest of the groups because the drivers become more personal to the spectators and that might give them an opportunity to know them and pick someone to root for and that breeds interest. Kent's plan is spot on in all respects IMO, including the driver's school and the three Boxsters on hand.....everything geared to plant seeds of interest and I'm 100% certain that things are about to take off big time. So yeah, they'd root for Eon over me since even after 20-odd years, I'm still an outsider.... ;D What can I say though....I have to dive-bomb my shots when I see daylight since every 944 on site can pull me 3-4 car lengths down the straight.... That session when y'all were down at T1 too was my worst of the day.....still don't know why but I couldn't get through T1 with any real speed to save my life and even took the agricultural route at least once.... Looking forward to your return dude.....hopefully I can muster another .500 and run somewhere in the near proximity... T

"Personally, I think a big part of the future success of the track can/will be the spectator gate take"
We have about the worst track that I've ever seen for spectators. I think some taller bleachers in turn 1 would help a lot...how did the FM radio thing work out? Some lively announcing would help spectators with the class battles and such. Chris W did some great color yesterday and he didn't even need a mic, but he's too busy already. I'm sure the new track will be much better.

I have discussed the spectator-friendly issue with Kent and he said the new facility will have viewing balconies. That should help.
I was dismayed though to see no advance mention of the grand opening event in the local T-P rag. We need some PR efforts.

What an awesome day of racing for the Spec Miatas! Two drivers broke the old track record in qualifying, and the driver who started LAST in the Feature race finished FIRST. And the newbies, myself included, found some guys to race with and learn from. I can't believe how much fun this is. Thanks to all you folks who make this track experience available to us. Question: Any extra track days coming up in December?

Question: Any extra track days coming up in December? In Eon's pics, there's a slide show with a few pretty cool pics of the Spec Miata lineup if any of you Miata guys want to save them. Also in there is a series of pics from T1 showing Dennis Paul's spin and the mud flying... ;D www.flickr.com/photos/nine44s/sets/72157622951528704/show/T

Way to go, Patrick! It's nice to see a guy on a short budget pull out a win through fair play and hard work. I hope you have many more to come. Congrats to the other winners, as well. I'll be back shortly to shake things up a bit. Thanks!!!

Thank you for taking a bunch of neat pics of the SMs in action! I have sent my friends and family several of them, and that's probably the first still photos they have seen of my car in the heat of the race. Keep up the great work!

I was just having fun with the new camera. If anyone wants any of the pics in a higher resolution I have all of the originals and can email them to you.

I think the reason that there aren't many with the 007 car from the feature, is, E's new camera only has a shutter speed of 1/400th of a second..... ;D

T, you're right. I printed it and also sent it to my kids by email. Nine44 did a great job with his new camera!
